A story about a home-based, construction business in an Amish-Mennonite community. Carl is learning to grow his business by growing his people. These lessons in business and leadership, provide a glimpse into this hardworking, family focused, culture. The Amish-Mennonite culture values community and hard work but sometimes finds it harder to see value in the administrative and leadership skills needed to run a business. This has slowly changed as family farms have transitioned into more industrial work. Though slower to adopt technology, many have embraced and skillfully employed Lean, DISC and other business principles to adapt and flourish in a modern marketplace.
The underlying goal of this story is to give insight into relationships. There are four primary characters. Each representing one of the four temperaments in the DISC model of human behavior. All the character names starting with D, I, S or C, have a personality that corresponds with that DISC letter.
